These sculptural works by Wisconsin artist Amanda Langer ask the viewer to consider the relationship between humanity and the natural world. She explores the nature of conflict as a simplification between two entities that are wildly different and appear to have nothing to do with each other. She questions how the differences between the materials reflect the differences that humans experience, whether that be within individual selves, between persons, or amidst groups–whether in terms of race, religion, or political ideology.

Curious about how people identify each material with extremes on a spectrum, Langer attempts to show that the differences do not have to be in conflict and that it might be to the highest benefit of both that the differences exist, to show how the unique features of each enhance the best parts of the other, and that by being in combination, the result is much more powerful than either one could be on its own.

Amanda Langer studied sculpture and natural resources at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2017. She spent the following years working in ecological restoration and landscaping with native plants. Her artwork is informed by her experiences in this field and is especially focused on exploring conflict between industry and nature, systems and people, and within the self.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. and S.A.F.E. House invites the community to its annual candlelight Domestic Violence Vigil. It's a time to remember the men, women, and children whose lives have been lost to domestic violence, and to stand with survivors as a community.

Through shared poetry, personal testimonies, and quiet connection, attendees will honor those we’ve lost, uplift those still healing, and raise awareness about the realities domestic violence survivors face every day.

The Grand Opening of the IndigenousAF store, along with Wai Gallery, will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, music and other performances, and food. They are, they say, the first authentic Native American arts retail store in Las Vegas. The gallery space, curated by Nuwu Art, will host fine art and rotating exhibitions highlighting Indigenous artists.

Over the past five years, the non-profit IAF Inc. has operated out of the Nuwu Art Gallery + Community Center at 1331 S. Maryland Parkway, where the organization will continue to host art exhibitions, workshops, and community events, including Final Fridays and Indigemart pop-up marketplaces.

Sam hosts a makeshift internet talk show from the basement of his father’s crumbling urban home. Upstairs, the older generations of the family struggle to coexist, barely managing to communicate despite sharing the same roof. When a long-lost uncle reappears, the fragile balance is disrupted and the men are forced to confront their past, the present, and the stark reality of their uncertain futures. Darkly comic and sharply observant, Talk Show blends humor and pathos in a portrait of one family’s desperate attempt to stay connected.
