Lee Canyon continues its summer concert series with another round of Music on the Mountain, a free, all-ages event. This time, performing will be Red Eye Gin, a Las Vegas-based band known for its electrifying blend of Americana, country, and soulful blues. The concert will be on their outdoor stage in the base area from 1 to 5.
Take chairs and blankets to enjoy the high-elevation escape, but leave the pop-up tents at home. Small shade umbrellas okay.
The music is free, but there are also a range of outdoor activities which aren't: round-trip rides on the Bristlecone Skyway, disc golf and downhill mountain biking, and the always popular beer garden. You can purchase tickets online at "Get Tickets."

If the name "Buena Vista Orchestra" sounds familiar to some of you, it’s essentially the new version of the Buena Vista Social Club from Cuba. It’s led by Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos, a trombonist, composer, arranger and musical director who was Buena Vista Social Club’s original orchestra leader, composer and trombonist . Two other original members of the Club will join Ramos and seven other musicians. Fans of musical theater may want to attend and bone up on the orchestra’s music because there’s now a musical about the Social Club, which means it could make its way to the Smith Center in the future.
Sep 04 Thursday

Jon Batiste, a very high-profile, highly awarded singer/musician/composer of late who has only made appearances at tribute and award shows here in Las Vegas. Finally, he headlines — two nights, in fact — and he’s going to have a hell of a time whittling down his growing body of work into a standard setlist. He does everything: jazz, blues, country, R&B, gospel and soul music, essentially the roots music of America, which he filters through his own artistic lens. It’s typically uplifting, and that’s what he hopes to do for this current live tour of his. For reference, Batiste was the Best Album Grammy award winner in 2022, and he won an Oscar — among other wards — for the jazz music in the 2020 movie Soul, which is, in my opinion, one of the best and underrated movies in the Pixar animated canon.

Many of the acts booked in Vegas for Mexican Independence Day week sing in Spanish, but are not actually from Mexico. Caifanes is not only Mexican, they’re one of the pioneers of modern Mexican music, going back to the mid 1980s. They were heavily influenced by that decade’s British and American rock, and combined them with touchstones of traditional and modern Mexican music. Ultimately, they became one of the forefather acts of the rock en Español movement. They’ve been here before, but it’s great that they’re being counted among the many live music acts here for the big mid-September holiday stretch.

Hawthorne, California-based singer, songwriter, and producer Cuco has been challenging musical conventions since his emergence.
Working alongside producer-musician Tom Brenneck (known for collaborations with Bruno Mars and Amy Winehouse), "Ridin'" serves as Cuco's thoughtful homage to Southern California's cultural past – incorporating AM radio influences, Chicano soul classics, elaborate horn arrangements, and vintage automotive culture – while simultaneously offering his mature perspective on relationships and connection.
