There’s never a shortage of things to see, hear, and do in Nevada. Here are some highlighted cultural events for the week starting July 1.

Through July 18

The seminal event in American history blazes to vivid life in this most unconventional of Broadway hits. 1776 puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the men behind the national icons: proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming, often petty, and ultimately noble figures, determined to do the right thing for a fledgling nation.

Wednesday-Saturday through July 18, 8pm

Through July 31

Artown, a month-long summer arts festival in Reno, features nearly 500 events produced by more than 100 organizations and businesses at over 130 locations city and countywide.

Our anchor events continue to be expressions of regional, national, and international artistic excellence. Most events are free or low-cost.

July 3 and 11

If you’re looking for a stage production that’s even more reflective of the current times, A Public Fit has you covered with What the Constitution Means to Me, an exploration of the widely interpreted U.S. document through the lens of a former high school debater. Too soon, you say? Then note that Heidi Schreck’s historically sweeping play takes the edge off a touchy subject with humor and heart.

Clark County Library – Friday, July 3 at 7 p.m.
Windmill Library – Saturday, July 11 at 2 p.m.

July 4

Lee Canyon will host a Fourth of July celebration on Saturday, including free live music from 1 to 5 p.m. by Sumptn' Else at the Bristlecone Bar.

Also included: a burger/chips/beer deal for $17.76, hiking on trails like the new High Pines Trail, and family-friendly activities.

Guests are encouraged to purchase activity tickets (such as scenic chair rides) online in advance to secure the best pricing and availability.
