Washoe County Commission Appoints New Members Of State Legislature

Washoe County commissioners appointed three northern Nevadans to fill vacant seats in the Legislature for an anticipated special-session vote on whether to raise the Las Vegas hotel tax to build a NFL stadium that could bring the Oakland Raiders to the city.

All three said after their appointments Tuesday they have no preconceived notions about how they'll vote during the special session Gov. Brian Sandoval expects to call in the coming weeks. That includes Republican Dominic Brunetti, a commercial real estate agent who played football at Stanford University.

Brunetti says he's a fan of football as a sport and a business, but he won't support the stadium deal unless it's fair to the communities that could be affected.

The others are Democrat Julia Ratti, a Sparks City councilwoman running for a permanent state Senate seat in November, and Republican Jesse Haw, a Reno developer.
