RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Washoe County Commission has appointed Assistant County Manager Dave Solaro as the interim county manager.
The commission is searching for a permanent replacement for John Slaughter, who was honored during Tuesday's commission meeting after serving the last five years as county manager.
Solaro was appointed assistant county manager in September 2017. His 16 years of experience with the county includes stints as director of community services and acting public works director.
Slaughter worked for the county for 33 years.
Commission Chairman Vaughn Hartung says it's rare these days to see someone dedicate their entire career to one organization, but he's grateful that Slaughter did.
