More Nuclear Waste Coming To Nevada

Nuclear canisters — Above, large concrete canisters, each holding 14 55-gallon drums of waste, are loaded on a truck in 2005 in Richland, Wash., where they were later shipped to a facility in New Mexico.

When it comes to nuclear waste, it seems as though Nevada can't catch a break.

The Department of Energy said it will ship uranium waste from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee for disposal at the former Nevada Test Site.

The shipping procedure is in the process of being tested, with empty storage containers set to travel from Oak Ridge to Nevada this week.
