LAS VEGAS (AP) — A property owner and associate can be free while they face manslaughter and criminal neglect charges following a fire last December that killed six people and became the deadliest residential fire in Las Vegas city history.
Attorneys for Alpine Motel Apartments owner Adolfo Orozco-Garcia said he can post $50,000 bail and co-defendant Malinda Mier can pay $10,000. Neither entered a plea Tuesday ahead of an Aug. 18 preliminary hearing on 21 felony charges that could put each in prison for 50 years.
Attorneys for both say their clients want a public airing of evidence in the case.
