Prosecutors Want Owners Of Alpine Motel Held On $1 Million Bail

Prosecutors want the owner of the Alpine Motel Apartments, where six people died in a fire in December, to be held on $1 million bail.

Chief Deputy District Attorney John Giordani said in court Adolfo Orozco has “substantial ties” to other states and Mexico and should have to surrender his passport.

The judge said she will decide today. Orozco and co-defendant, Malinda Mier, who managed the property, are charged with one count of manslaughter for each of the six victims and 15 counts of performance of an act or neglect of duty in disregard of safety resulting in substantial bodily harm or death.

Orozco also faces charges related to dissuading witnesses.
