Sun Valley Man Faces 2 Murder Charges In Reno Arson Fire

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno police have filed a second murder charge against a 31-year-old Sun Valley man accused of starting a fire that killed two people and injured several others at an apartment building earlier this week.

Brian Bandy was being held in the Washoe County Jail Friday on $50,000 bail.

He's been charged with two counts of open murder, first-degree arson and false imprisonment with the use of a deadly weapon. The victims of Monday's fire have been identified as 70-year-old Katherine White and 51-year-old Diane Engstrom.

The blaze was reported at about 5:30 a.m. at a two-story apartment complex south of downtown.
