Project Neon Goes Dark

A full interchange at Charleston Boulevard is a legacy of Project Neon.

It took three years, nearly a billion dollars, and made use of 4,500 construction barrels, but Project Neon is done.

The effort to improve Interstate 15 and its interchanges through downtown Las Vegas officially ends tonight with a community celebration.

What came before was the largest public-works project in Nevada history. It included rebuilding the state’s busiest stretch of freeway, where 300,000 vehicles travel daily.

Among the legacies of the project is a new interchange at Charleston Boulevard. It provides better access to the Las Vegas arts and medical districts and an easier trip out to the suburbs.
