LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Boulder City police officer has been indicted on charges accusing him of stealing money from his disabled son.
The Las Vegas-Review Journal reports 48-year-old Jeffrey Grasso faces more than a dozen felony counts, including theft, forgery, burglary and exploitation of a vulnerable person.
According to the indictment handed up Thursday, Grasso forged invoices to falsely withdraw more than $10,000 from charitable accounts and lawsuit proceeds set up to care for his 21-year-old son who suffered a traumatic brain injury after falling off his skateboard in 2012.
Grasso is scheduled to appear in Clark County District Court Jan. 24.
The police department says the 15-year-veteran of the force has been placed on unpaid leave pending the results of the criminal case and concurrent internal investigation.
His lawyer, Brian Smith, didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday.
