Mohave County Debating Mandatory Rural Trash Service

County commissioners in Mohave County, Ariz. were set to debate Monday on whether landlords of rural properties have to provide trash service to renters.

The Mohave Daily News reports the change would be part of the county's ordinance against littering.

If commissioners approve the changes, commercial trash collection would be required in unincorporated Mohave County, at the expense of landlords.

Mandatory trash service is already in place in the county's cities, like Kingman.

Commissioners at previous meetings seemed skeptical of making the change, with some asking if there was even an availability for trash service in those parts of the county.

Others argued any cost for trash removal would probably end up being borne by renters, as landlords would just fold it into rents.
