LAS VEGAS (AP) — The state is giving away hundreds of dollars to help parents pay for their children's college education.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the Nevada Treasurer's Office announced plans Monday to create five college savings accounts with an initial deposit of $529. The office is accepting entries from Nevada residents with children aged 13 or younger through Sept. 30.

The five winners will receive the $529 contribution in a 529 Plan account.
