Treasurer Giving Away 20 Stocked College Savings Accounts

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada State Treasurer's Office is giving away college savings accounts stocked with more than $500 apiece.

The office is celebrating College Savings Month during September by giving away 20 accounts filled with $529 each. Families with children ages 13 and under should enter online no later than Sept. 30.

Accounts are part of SSgA UPromise 529, which is one of the college savings plans offered through the state. Treasurer Dan Schwartz said he hopes the giveaway puts more students on the path to college.
