Since taking office, the U.S. Department of Justice has launched dozens of investigations into schools such as Harvard, Columbia, and now, Nevada's two flagship institutions.
At the University of Nevada, Reno, federal investigators are looking into a program called Undocupack – which assisted in enrolling undocumented students and connecting them with financial resources.
And at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the justice department's civil rights division has launched a probe into the pro-Palestinian protests that took place on campus in 2023 after Israel launched ground operations in Gaza in response to the October 7th terrorist attack by Hamas.
