During her decade with the Spiegelworld production show Absinthe, burlesque performer/singer Melody Sweets played the role of the Green Fairy — a sultry-voiced chanteuse, the kind you imagine entertaining a jazz cabaret in 1920s France.

But there’s more to her. She’s also a songwriter, a show producer, and a model. She’s a well-regarded baker, as she proves on her web series. She knows how to get an audience laughing (and blushing).

Perhaps the most impressive thing about her is how she can do all that at the same time. And you’ll be able to see it for yourself on June 21 at Myron's at the Smith Center, where she’ll perform her new show, Summer Fling.

And what's happening in that show? A large band supporting Sweets, who will be singing some of her originals and a bunch of covers — Billie Holiday, Dorthy Dandridge, Mae West and ... hip-hop duo Black Sheep, whose "Flavor of the Month" is Sweets' favorite summer-themed song.

"All of the songs are based around summer, naughty songs about the birds and the bees and everything in between," said Sweets.

All the while, she and her non-instrumental onstage posse will be costumed to further cement the show's theme. "The dancers have these glorious costumes provided by [Las Vegas-based] Champagne Creative [Group]," said Sweets. "They are these bubbles; they're basically a giant wave that's going to come in and do this beautiful, big fan dance. It looks like an ocean wave around me while I'm the mermaid — as you do."

Sweets has presided over the Myron's stage for nearly a decade with her themed shows, before she even left Absinthe, to flex some of her creative muscle and deviate from the routine of a Strip production show. It has enabled her to develop and diversify as a performer.

"I missed producing my own shows," said Sweets, who was an established performer/producer in New York before she was discovered by Absinthe creator Spiegelworld. "So, at first, it was just an outlet to do something different. But what it's done, I think, is allowed me to grow as a singer, as an entertainer, and really be able to perform with different musicians and different performers. I get to experience Las Vegas in a different way, and be able to share Las Vegas in a different way than I was able to do in Absinthe."
