State Fire Warden: Nevada is facing 'above-average' wildfire season

If you have stepped outside in the last few days, then you know it's definitely summer in the Silver State. And as temperatures settle into triple digits for the foreseeable future, the threat of wildfires also grows.

National Interagency Fire Center forecasters are predicting above-normal fire potential across portions of the Southwest and Great Basin, including Nevada. It means Las Vegas, Reno and other communities are at risk.

Kacey KC, the state forester and fire warden who oversees the Nevada Division of Forestry, says as many as 7 million to 9 million acres could burn across the country in 2025.
