In Nevada, how important is abortion this November?

Fourteen states have a near-total ban, and 19 states ban abortion after 18 weeks. In Nevada, women can get an abortion up to 24 weeks of pregnancy, and after 24 weeks if a doctor says it will save the life or health of the mother.

But that right isn’t guaranteed if federal lawmakers in Congress decide to ban abortion nationally. So, the push in Nevada is to put the 24-week guarantee into the state constitution. That way, the state will have the constitution and voters on its side if it decides to fight against a potential federal abortion ban.

So, this November, state voters will be asked if they want the right to an abortion up to 24 weeks as week part of the state Constitution.

And we’re asking: Will that drive people to the polls?
