What we know about the NYC mass shooting suspects' Nevada connections

New York City high-rise wearing body armor and wielding an assault-style rifle. He opened fire, shooting victims at random, according to authorities. The attack left four victims dead and another wounded before the shooter killed himself.

Police found a note in the gunman's pocket claiming he had a neurodegenerative disease called Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, or CTE. It’s typically seen in athletes who experience traumatic brain injuries, including football players. The high-rise was the home to the National Football League.

Much is still under investigation, including the gunman’s motives. However, Investigative Journalist Katelyn Newberg with the Las Vegas Review-Journal has looked into the gunman's Nevada connections.
