Candidate interview: Jennifer Atlas looks to flip Henderson state senate seat

A race for a single seat in the state senate could have a major effect on the rest of Nevada.

Senate District 5, which covers much of Henderson, is considered one of the most flippable seats in the legislature for Democrats.

If Democrats take this seat from incumbent Carrie Buck, while holding onto others, they are likely to have super majorities in both the Nevada Assembly and Senate.

That means they could overturn any veto by Governor Joe Lombardo. Lombardo vetoed more legislation in 2023 than any previous governor.

So today we’ll take a look at the district, and hear from one of the candidates, Jennifer Atlas. Buck did not reply to repeated requests to join us.
