With all the multi-million-dollar productions up and down the Strip, one might overlook the many local plays and musicals fighting for their foothold in Las Vegas.

But many of the local theater companies are still performing full seasons – some of them in large venues, with Pulitzer-winning plays and guest actors.

And it’s not just companies producing theater — one non-profit organization even manages to help kids get into the theater game, allowing them to create and cast an entire play.

And then there are those who despite those aforementioned struggles are scaling new heights — like landing celebrity directors and huge casino venues.

Over the next two weeks, a handful of productions debut in various theaters, covering different thematic ground.
