A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces holds up the team's championship trophy.

For the first time, a professional sports team from Nevada has been crowned champion.

On Sunday, the Las Vegas Aces defeated the Connecticut Sun, winning the a game series 3-1 to take home the WNBA championship.

Throughout the playoffs, the Aces were led by two-time league MVP A'ja Wilson and Chelsey Gray, who was named the finals MVP.

And this was the Aces’ second trip to the finals in three years. But the team, which was brought by Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis, hired coach Becky Hammon earlier this year, and she is getting a lot of credit for getting this team to the top.
