Las Vegas Putting Out Welcome Mat As A's Consider Leaving Oakland

Associated Press

Oakland A's third baseman Chad Pinder might one day handle the hot corner in Las Vegas if the team relocates. Las Vegas is among a handful of cities courting the team should it fail to reach a deal for a new stadium in Oakland.

After luring the Raiders to Las Vegas, can the city grab another Oakland big-league sports franchise?

Representatives of the A’s were in Las Vegas this week to meet with local officials about the possibility of moving the Major League Baseball team to Southern Nevada. It’s part of a tour of possible cities where the team could move if there is no agreement to build a new ballpark in Oakland.

Las Vegas would need to build a baseball stadium to host the team, and some wonder whether the community can support another sports franchise on top of the Raiders and Vegas Golden Knights.
