Wondering what Las Vegas might look like in 2050?
Come spring you might get an idea. That’s when the city of Las Vegas is expected to release a 30-year update of its state-mandated master plan.
It will cover historic preservation in the urban core, redevelopment of Charleston Boulevard in the Medical District, and how to build out the raw land in the city’s northwest corner.
City planner Marco Velotta told State of Nevada that the plan will also likely recommend improving the tree canopy to mitigate heat island effects. That’s when tile roofs and blacktop absorb solar energy and radiate it back as heat, raising temperatures in the vicinity.
