Common Ground Between California, Nevada Is Growing

Nevada and California share a 600-mile border. Los Angelenos like to play in Las Vegas and many move here because the cost of living there is too high. And the tech connections between Reno and Silicon Valley are growing stronger.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the 2016 election, new tensions and connections have emerged in both states. Nevada’s legislature has become more diverse, something California has had for decades. And the divide between Nevada’s urban centers and rural areas mirrors those between California’s mega-cities and its agricultural center.

So today we’re talking about the common ground between the two states. Nevada Public Radio is joining with its NPR colleagues in San Francisco to talk about the issues that are starting to bind the states together with each passing year.
