Four Nevada high schoolers will have their art creations displayed in front of tens of thousands of people every day, welcoming them to the Silver State.
The four won an art contest run by the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs to design new “Welcome to Nevada” signs that will greet motorists on inbound highways.
The four designs — each to be featured in one corner of the state — replace the image of a lonely miner who has been welcoming visitors for 20 years.
Instead of shuffling off into the sunset, the old miner will live on, adorning the walls of lucky Nevadans. The 28 current signs will be raffled off by the Nevada Department of Transportation after the new ones are ready to go up.
Details will be announced this summer on the NDOT website, nevadadot.com.
