With the announcement that casino giant MGM Resorts International will charge for parking, there’s reason to believe that anything is possible.
The MGM’s 11 Strip properties will begin charging to park in some of its 37,000 parking spots. It will charge $10 or less for overnight self parking starting this spring. Information on possible fees for short-term parking were not immediately available.
But no free parking? On The Strip?
Will local residents avoid those casinos if they have to pay for parking, which to many is a Las Vegas entitlement?
Rick Velotta, transportation reporter with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, said it's an idea whose time has come. Gaming revenues are down and casinos are looking to make up the loss in other ways.
