Willy Vlautin grew up in Reno. And he chose it as the setting for his first novel, The Motel Life, about two down-and-out brothers who share a profound bond and a terrible secret. That novel was recently released as a feature film in select theaters and on iTunes. Vlautin talks with us about the dive bars and weekly motels of downtown Reno, and about how his hometown inspired his writing and music.
