Peter Hessler, an American Writer on China

When Peter Hessler joined the Peace Corps and taught English in China, he didn't realize those two years would turn into a lifetime of writing about China and its people. But that's what happened. He spent years as the Beijing correspondent for The New Yorker, and wrote three books about his travels and the Chinese people. His specialty is looking into the lives of ordinary Chinese - from the factory worker to the poet - and the influences of the Cultural Revolution, censorship, and the government. Join us as we look inside a China we rarely see outside the headlines.
