Hundreds of northern Nevada voters gathered in Reno on Wednesday night to voice concerns about President Donald Trump and his administration’s latest actions to limit the size and scope of the federal government.

Public backlash against cuts by DOGE continues to simmer. Voters at the Reno town hall expressed concerns about the threat of authoritarianism, as well as Elon Musk’s influence on the federal budget.

That includes Pam from Reno, a mother who provides full-time care to her son, who has several disabilities. Pam says he depends on services such as disability and Medicaid.

“He would not have the life he has now if it weren't for that kind of support and services that we're getting for him. We didn't choose this life; this life was chosen for us. It's not like I have a chance to walk away or do something different.”

The town hall was hosted by Greg Kidd, who last year ran unsuccessfully against Mark Amodei, Northern Nevada’s incumbent U.S. Representative. Amodei, the state’s only Republican in Congress, has not held a town hall since 2017.

He recently told The Nevada Independent he has no plans to hold a town hall, saying they have become a “code word to bully someone in public.”
