Over the last several weeks, a series of wildfires – some natural, others believed to be started by people – has burned more than 150,000 acres in Washoe County.

The weeklong event in late August has fostered not only a renaissance of public art up and down the state, but a variety of collaborations between unlikely parties.

According to one tally, nearly 200 people have already announced intentions to run for office in 2026. But what might be more important than who is running is who isn't.
