In Downtown Las Vegas, the arts live and breathe there in the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts.
At the corner of 7th and Bridger, it was known as Las Vegas High School until it became a magnet school and adopted the name Las Vegas Academy in 1993. The school specializes in music, dance, theater and visual arts. And somewhat of a rarity in the Clark County school district, it has a five-star school rating.
And its music education outreach program has won something called the Grammy Signature School award 12 times—more than any high school in the country.
What makes this school tick, what makes it so successful—and what it’s going to be like to perform again at the Smith Center. Last year, that annual show had to be cancelled due to covid. This year’s show is February 8th.
