Police: Las Vegas-Area Elections Office Cleared By Gel In Mail

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Police say a substance found on a letter that prompted a four-hour evacuation at the busy Las Vegas-area elections operations center turned out to be deodorant gel.

North Las Vegas police Officer Alexander Cuevas said Monday that investigators including police and a regional hazardous materials team were trying to trace the origin of the envelope received at the Clark County Election Office.

It didn't have a return address. A spokesman for county Registrar of Voters Joe Gloria said no damage, illnesses or injuries were reported.
