DA: Sparks Police Justified In Fatal Shooting Of 18-Year-Old

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks has cleared Sparks police of any wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of an armed, suicidal 18-year-old man in January.

Hicks said Monday that the officers were justified when they shot and killed Miciah Lee.

Hicks said Lee was armed with a handgun and was threatening to kill himself or "die by cop." He said Lee's mother told police he was mentally unstable and had a history of drug use.

Police spotted him in a car but he refused to stop, later crashed and reached toward a gun before officers shot him.
