Sparks Police Warn Fake Phone Calls Are Part Of Spam Attack

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Sparks police and city officials are warning residents about fraudulent telephone calls that appear to be part of a spam attack.

The fake calls reference federal warrants and fictitious activity on Amazon accounts. Sparks officials said Monday they give the false impression they are coming from the city or the Sparks Police Department.

Some claim the recipient may have been the victim of suspicious activity tied to their Amazon accounts. Others reference federal warrants and warn you will be arrested if you don't submit a payment.
