Hundreds of people gathered in downtown Reno’s City Plaza for a peace vigil Sunday to commemorate George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and other African Americans killed by police.
Despite low temperatures, rain and hail, the crowd occupied the public square for four hours, listening to speeches and live music.
Susan Clopp spoke out in memory of her son, Miciah Lee, who was killed by Sparks Police in January.
“He was not a criminal, he was not a gang member. He had mental health issues, that was the only thing that was my son’s thing was… I called you for help, he was trying to harm himself," she said.
Lee’s case is currently under investigation by the Washoe County District Attorney, but authorities have not released body camera footage from the incident.
