CCSD School Board Meeting Ends Amid Angry Outbursts

The Clark County School Board meeting ended abruptly Thursday night after angry outbursts from teachers unhappy about contract negotiations.

The Clark County Education Association has said it will strike September 10 if negotiations are not worked out by Friday.

At issue is a pay raise for teachers that have completed enough professional training to move up on the pay scale.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the rowdiness began almost immediately after School Board President Lola Brooks began her opening remarks.

At one point, school police ushered trustees to the back of the stage and eventually Brooks said the meeting would be moved to a later date.
