Las Vegas Pizza Shop Hosts Mural Contest To Honor Slain Officers

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas pizza restaurant where two police officers were gunned down on their lunch break five years ago is hosting a contest to create a mural honoring area emergency responders.

KTNV-TV reports that Cici's Pizza is inviting students from Clark County schools to help memorialize officers Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo.

Beck and Soldo were eating at the Cici's on Nellis Boulevard near Stewart Avenue when a man and woman shot them dead on June 8, 2014, declared a revolution had begun, and fled to a nearby Walmart.

The couple also killed an armed shopper who tried to intervene before dying during a barricade shootout with police.

Cici's says the winning artist will receive free pizza for life and be honored at the mural unveiling on June 7.
