Officials broke ground Tuesday on the first of two memorial parks that will honor two Las Vegas Metro police officers who were shot to death while having lunch at a local restaurant in 2014.
Officer Alyn Beck's widow was among those in attendance at the ceremony to kick off construction of The Alyn Beck Memorial Park near U.S. 95 and Skye Canyon Park Drive.
A second park will be built to honor Beck's partner, Officer Igor Soldo.

Soldo and Beck were shot and killed while they were having lunch at a pizza shop. The couple that shot the officers then went to a nearby Walmart where they killed another man and eventually committed suicide.
