Tesla Suing Former Employee

Tesla is suing a former employee who CEO Elon Musk has called a “saboteur” for more than $167 million in damages.

Recent legal filings accuse Martin Tripp of stealing and illegally distributing information, as well as making false statements to the media.

Tripp had previously told reporters possible damage to batteries produced at the Reno-area Gigafactory might pose a risk to drivers of the company’s Model 3 vehicles.

Earlier this year, Tripp filed a formal complaint with the Securities and Exchange Commission claiming Tesla made "material omissions and misstatements" to investors regarding manufacturing and waste management practices at the plant.
