Child In Southern Nevada Confirmed To Have Rare Polio-Like Disease

A child in Clark County was confirmed to have Acute Flaccid Myelitis, a rare polio-like illness that is on the rise across the nation.

More than 60 cases in the U.S. have been confirmed in 2018 by the Centers for Disease Control. The agency is actively investigating AFM, trying to root out more information about the rare disease.

There is no specific treatment for the disease, and symptoms can include muscle weakness and difficulty swallowing and slurred speech.

How is Las Vegas' healthcare system really doing, and what does it mean for you and your family? Desert Companion's Health Issue takes a deep dive into these questions and explores how heart-centered business leaders prove that doing good benefits the bottom line.
