SPRINGDALE, Utah (AP) — Authorities say several popular trails at Zion National Park have been closed in definitely by damage due to flash flooding.
Park rangers said Thursday the trail closures at the red-rock park include Angels Landing, Kayenta and Upper Emerald Pools.
Rangers at the park in southern Utah say that severe rainstorms caused extensive rock falls, retaining wall collapses and portions of trails to be washed out.
With more storms in the forecast, hikers are also being warned to avoid any narrow slow canyons where flash flooding is a possibility.
Flash floods at Zion have proved fatal in the past, including a devastating 2015 flood in a deep, narrow canyon that killed seven people.
