Metro Honor Guard Raffle Off Assault-Style Weapons In Fundraiser

The honor guard for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department raffled several firearms in a fundraiser this weekend, including an assault-style rifle.

The event offered raffle tickets for $20 each or six for $100.

On a webpage for Metro’s Honor Guard advertising the fifth annual Scoot and Shoot raffle, the rifle is shown emblazoned with the words “Vegas Strong”. It also has a skull pressed into the metal over two crossed rifles.

In addition to the rifle, the raffle's prizes included three Glock pistols and a custom Sig Sauer P226.

An assault-style rifle was one of several weapons used in the Las Vegas strip shooting that killed 58 people. An AR-15, which looks similar to the rifle advertised for the raffle, was also used in the murder of 17 people at a high school in Florida last month.

A spokesman for the police department could not be immediately reached.
