State Numbers Show Taxable Sales Increased In September ​

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — State figures show Nevada's taxable sales increased by 4 percent in September compared to the same month last year.

The Las Vegas Sun reports numbers from the Nevada Department of Taxation show that taxable sales reached nearly $5 billion that month with increases reported in 11 of the 17 counties in the state.

Revenue at bars and restaurants increased by more than 4 percent, and furniture sales went up by more than 6 percent.

More than $99 million in taxes were collected from statewide sales, an increase of nearly 5 percent compared to the same month last year.

While the gains were better than last year, the sales tax collection is still down by more than $4 million than what the state predicted.
