Clark County Backs Out Of Plans To Purchase Moulin Rouge Site

Clark County officials have decided not to purchase the historic site of the former Moulin Rouge casino.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports county commissioners announced Tuesday they would not purchase the property after receiving pushback from residents in Historic West Las Vegas.

Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez approved the county’s bid to purchase the 15-acre property last month for $6.2 million.

Residents, however, did not approve of the county’s plans to build a new Department of Family Services building on the site of Las Vegas’ first racially integrated hotel-casino.
