A company that’s under contract to buy the property where Las Vegas’ first racially integrated casino once stood wants to build a Moulin Rouge revival on the site.
Spec Builders USA hopes to close on the purchase of the 15-acre Bonanza Road property in the next few weeks, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The potential owners envision a casino modeled after the original Moulin Rouge, which had a short but groundbreaking run in 1955, when other casinos in the valley were segregated.
The Moulin Rouge closed after only six months of operation. Attempts to revive the property have been going on for years with little to no progress.
