Officials from the Bureau of Land Management were in Elko last night, hearing comments about the agency's ongoing plans to protect the sage grouse.
The Elko Daily Free Press reportslocal officials have expressed concern the federal government is not taking their needs, and the wishes of residents, into account fully when crafting policy.
Further amendments to sage grouse policy are planned for this year, with the BLM embarking on a listening tour to get feedback on proposals.
Officials head to Ely tonight for further discussion with local residents and lawmakers.
