UNR Police Chief Apologizes For School Police Comments

University of Nevada Reno Police Chief Adam Garcia released a statement today apologizing for a school police officer’s comments made to a graduate student during a traffic stop.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports a video taken from the officer’s police body cam shows two officers questioning a group of students during the stop, one of the students is Kevin McReynolds, a former Wolf Pack football player.

Officer Adam Wilson jokingly states he would shoot McReynolds rather than try to fight him.

In his statement, Chief Garcia said he condemns the comments and would not tolerate inappropriate behavior. Garcia said officer Wilson was placed on administrative leave and could face time off or termination.
