The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded more than $2.7 million to the Elko Regional Airport.
The money will be used for improvements and upgrades to the rural airport, including maintaining the structural integrity of pavement in various runways and making soil and drainage improvements.
Senator Catherine Cortez Masto applauded this effort, saying in a statement Friday that maintaining rural airports like this is vital to keeping Nevadans connected across this vast state.
