Elko has decided to buy a parcel of land next to its airport.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports the city council voted unanimously to approve the deal yesterday, which would give the city more than 60 acres of land adjacent to the airport.
Elko has been interested in purchasing the land both for the sake of development and to make sure it owns land between the airport and I-80.

The city manager says the land would be zoned for businesses related to the airport, but specifically not for aeronautical use.
It would not be able to be developed for residential purposes.
